Mom and Dad driving school can usually produce a good driver however, the VORT requires the driver to have a solid understanding of road law, road etiquette and the technical ability to perform slow speed manoeuvres along with many other technical on road driving techniques. Professional driving lessons are highly recommended prior to presenting for a VORT.
Yes you are permitted to do so. It is recommended that you have completed the majority of your hours so your skills and experience are adequate. The VORT should be just a simple procedure and not a hurdle.

Anytime you are on your Ls. You do not need your 75 hours or your 12 months done first.
You can either have your physical learner's permit with you OR you can use your digital licence. It can be a risky practice only carrying your digital licence and not keeping your plastic card with you, as technology is only good when it is working.
Appropriate footwear with heel support (not platform shoes). Slide-ons, thongs, bare feet are not considered appropriate footwear for driving. Ensure you bring your learner's permit and comply with 'any' condition on your permit e.g. (S) which means your corrective eyewear/contact lenses must be worn during the VORT.

The driving instructor will only meet you at the spot that is mentioned at each start location. Only if it suits the instructor they might drop you off somewhere else (it doesn't hurt to ask at the beginning of the lesson) but you need to expect pick up and drop off will be at the documented location.
Yes it will. None of the vehicles are convertible and are all fitted with air conditioning and window wipers :-)
